Kanyegate
College Dropout is a pretty good album. I’ll freely admit that. At the time it was released I never really gave it any credit (as I am inclined to do with most mainstream hip-hop) but the last few months have seen it grow on me. Two Words sees regular rotation in my playlists (and not simply because it features Mos Def)… and now that is out of the way… Kanye West is a fuckwit.
The latest internet meme to arise out of his douchebaggery (made up words ftw) stems from his highly inappropriate actions at the Video Music Awards this week. Literally overnight a plethora of shopped jpegs has dropped into the public spotlight taking the piss out of his little rant. The unfortunate truth of the matter is that any publicity – good or bad – is a good thing for a celebrity. I am aware of the inherent irony of writing that in a public medium. Despite widespread public derision and hatred I doubt that stock in Kanye.inc will see a drop. Still, it makes for mild hilarity especially when shit like this appears in my inbox:
